Now what happens? I have a gift voucher and want to book my flight

  • You will need to have your gift voucher in front of you. On the reverse there will be a reference number that you will need to quote.
  • Phone the UFC on 028 9181 3327 or call in and see us, either way the office people will be there to help.
  • Arrange a time and day that suits you - REMEMBER to phone on the day of your flight to check all is still ok!!

The big day - Pre-flight Stuff

  • If you need directions click here
  • There are plenty of parking spaces available so park up and go straight ahead into the Main Office with you gift voucher in hand.
  • Present you gift voucher to one of the office staff and you are nearly there!!
  • You will then be shown to the Lounge to await your instructor for the flight

The big day - Going Flying

  • Once the introductions between you and the instructor are over, each person going flying will be given a
    pop up description layer
headset (hold curser over to see picture) to wear during the flight, this allows the instructor to talk to Air Traffic control and passengers to talk to each other during the flight.
  • Make sure you have everything you want to take with you e.g. camera, sunglasses etc.
  • Now it is time to go to the airplane - Happy Flying!!

The Airplane - What does everything do

  • You will be flying in a Cessna 172SP (Special Performance) aircraft like the one below

  • Now you are in the airplane and the instructor will give you a short safety brief and point out what all the knobs and dials do.
  • To give you an idea of what to expect and what to look for below is a photo of a cockpit.

ASI - Tells you what speed you are doing through the air in knots Artificial Horizon / Attitude Indicator - Indicates whether the aircraft is climbing or descending and the bank angle during turns. Altimeter - Tells you your height above the ground in feet

What will I see when I'm up there

On a clear day it is normal to see the Mourne Mountains, Scottish Coast and Isle of Mann shortly after departure from the runway.
