This page aims to answer the any questions you may have about learning to fly and the flying club itself Q. How much is a flying lesson? A. Prices start form as little as £70.00.
Q. Can I buy a flight for a gift. A. You can purchase a trial lesson that comes in a presentation card to give as a gift, this flight will count towards their Private Pilots License if they wish to take up flying. the lesson will be in a four seater Cessna 172 aircraft, The price includes the instructor and the occupants of the two rear seats. A gift voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Q. What if the weather is bad on the day we have booked? A. Always ring the UFC before leaving home to save a journey and then be disappointed however, your instructor will make a decision based on safety whether to fly or not, if the decision is made not to fly you can re-book the flight and will not be charged or penalized.
Q. How many people can fly? A. There can be 3 people in total, one person sits in the pilots seat, and two rear seat passengers can also fly at no extra cost.
Q. How can I book a trial lesson? A. The easiest way to book is by telephone, (028) 9181 3327. A suitable time can be arranged and any special requirements, e.g. a surprise birthday present, can be discussed at this time.
Q. Is the UFC insured? A. Yes, the UFC carries full insurance on all of the aircraft they operate.
Q. Are the instructors properly trained? A. All UFC instructors are trained to full Civil Aviation Authority standards and must prove their competency to the Chief Flying Instructor before being allowed to take students and passengers
Q. Can I take photographs? A. Yes, that is no problem, there are also disposable cameras available from the UFC shop.
Q. Are there any medical requirements to take a lesson? A. If you wish to train towards you PPL then you will need to get a medical from the Civil Aviation Authority, but there are no medical requirement to take a Trial Lesson.
Q. What age can I start flying at? A. The minimum age to go solo is 16 sdo you can base your training around that however, there is no upper or lower age barriers to take a Trial Lesson..
